The Small Fakers - Shell Bay
Restaurant 14 September 2008
The expensive yachts were parked up for the night. No
more Sunseekers were going past and it was time for the Small Fakers to
rock Shell Bay. Shell Bay? Unless you go the long way round, Shell Bay
restaurant is accessed via the Sandbanks ferry from Poole. Drive through
the multi-million pound houses and the chain ferry takes vehicles across
the narrow entrance to Poole harbour, the second largest natural harbour
in the world. On the other side of the restaurant is Studland Beach
although, fortunately, everyone kept their clothes on for the gig!
Shell Bay restaurant has an excellent local reputation
for its seafood and the gig included a full and extremely good meal. The
band played two set and managed to get the audience up and dancing from
the start although songs that were particularly popular were Itchycoo
Park, All or Nothing and, surprisingly, Rollin' Over.
"Good grub, great crowd with everyone dancing early. A
friendly and fun venue so we hope to be back soon"
Matt, the Small Fakers
The band delivered two 40-minute sets, split
more or less exactly into Decca material and Immediate material. From
memory the set lists are shown below though not necessarily in the
correct order.
