What's New

The Early of Derby, Bermondsey

This is where it all started. The Pioneers with Kenney Jones (drums) and Ronnie Lane (guitar) were playing the pub gig 23 January 1965. Steve Marriott was in the audience. Ronnie had met Steve at the J60 and invited him to join the band on keyboards. "Jerry Lee" Marriott destroyed the piano and the band was chucked out of the pub. The building is now residential having closed in 1996.

185 Grange Road, Southwark.

  • Nearest Tube: London Bridge
