Book Review: Guinness Rockopedia

This is an immense work. It looks at the history of rock and pop music over the last forty years and includes over 700 artists as well as record labels, festivals, music types, etc. Each section gives a relatively detailed overview, for example of the artist, noting their key releases. Each section is accompanied by details of a recommended book, fanzine and Web page for the artist.

The Guinness Rockopedia is a treasure trove for the music fan with detailed profiles of many artists. Most of these are accompanied by details of the artist's fan club, a recommended book and fanzine and Web page. While this is not aimed at the die-hard fan of a particular artists, it does provide an excellent and thorough overview of music across the last 40 years along with instructions on where to go for further enlightenment.
